History

About Home Deluxe Arena

The arena was built to replace the Hermann-Löns-Stadion, which was no longer licensed for league football. Construction began in July 2005 but was delayed by residents’ lawsuits and a revoked building permit, and restarted in 2007. The first match was a friendly against Galatasaray on 16 July 2008, and the opening match against Borussia Dortmund followed on 20 July 2008. It was called paragon arena (2008–2009), Energieteam Arena (2009–2012) and Benteler-Arena (2012–2022) before taking the Home Deluxe Arena name in 2022. An upper tier of about 2,150 seats opened on 21 January 2024.
