History
About Bolt Arena
Building began in September 1999 and the stadium, designed by Atelier23 and built by Skanska for €18.5 million, opened in summer 2000. Its original grass pitch was replaced with artificial turf in 2003 because it did not get enough sunlight, and the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship here was the first FIFA finals tournament played on artificial turf. The turf was replaced again in 2006, when the reopening match against FC Honka set the ground record, and the newest surface was laid in April 2025. It has been Bolt Arena since January 2020, after spells as Finnair Stadium, Sonera Stadium and Telia 5G -areena.
