History
About Central Stadium
The sports complex was built between 1955 and 1975 to a design by the architects Adambek Kapanov and A. Ya. Kossov. Its main arena, with stands for 30,000, opened in August 1958. For the 1997 Central Asian Games the running track was relaid and the wooden benches were replaced by 23,804 plastic seats. A 3 billion tenge rebuild paid for by the city, ahead of the 2011 Asian Winter Games, reopened the stadium on 18 September 2010 and changed the pitch from 104 × 69 m to 105 × 68 m to meet UEFA rules. In 2016 Kairat paid for the work that brought the stadium up to UEFA Category 4.
