Ireland and Scotland meet in a pool again
Ireland and Scotland are paired for the third tournament running; Scotland won their 1991 pool meeting, Ireland the last two, including 36-14 in 2023. Uruguay and Portugal meet for the first time at a World Cup, and Ireland have never faced either side at the tournament.

The 24 teams are split into six pools of four, and each team plays the other three once. The top two in each pool and the four best third-placed teams reach the Round of 16. Third-placed teams are ranked on competition points, then points difference, then try difference.

Perth Stadium Station on the Transperth network sits beside the ground. You can also walk across the Matagarup Bridge from East Perth.
Newcastle
Known locally as McDonald Jones Stadium · 30,000 capacity
Broadmeadow Station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line is a short walk away. On major event days, shuttle buses often run from the Newcastle CBD.
Brisbane
Known locally as Suncorp Stadium · 52,500 capacity
Milton Station is about 700 metres from the ground and Roma Street Station about 1km. Special event shuttle buses also run on major match days.
