History
About Visana Stadion
Thun’s voters refused to fund a new stadium with public money in 2006, so the contractor HRS financed the ground together with the neighbouring Panorama Center shopping centre. Building began in spring 2010 and the stadium opened on 9 July 2011 with a 2–2 friendly between FC Thun and 1. FC Köln, replacing Stadion Lachen, FC Thun’s home since 1954. It was called Arena Thun until February 2014, when the Stockhornbahn cable-car company bought the naming rights and it became the Stockhorn Arena. After FC Thun won their first Swiss title in 2025–26, the club signed a naming deal with the insurer Visana that runs to 2036, and the ground has been the Visana Stadion since the 2026–27 season.
