History

About Valley Parade

Manningham Rugby Football Club opened Valley Parade on 27 September 1886, on a former quarry. When Manningham switched to association football in 1903 and became Bradford City, the ground became a football stadium, and Archibald Leitch redeveloped it in 1908 after City were promoted to the First Division. On 11 May 1985, 56 supporters died and at least 265 were injured when fire destroyed the main stand. The ground was rebuilt for £2.6 million and reopened in December 1986. The Midland Road stand, a rebuilt two-tier Kop, a corner stand and a second tier on the main stand followed between 1996 and 2001, taking capacity to about 25,000.

Seating layout

Valley Parade seating plan & capacity

The ground is all-seated, and every stand except the Midland Road Stand has two tiers. Because the ground sits on a hillside, the Midland Road Stand overhangs the road behind it.

  • Main Stand (JCT600 Stand)

The two-tier main stand, which covers only three-quarters of the pitch length and holds the 17 executive boxes and conference facilities.

  • The Kop

The two-tier stand at the north end, converted to seating in 1999 and the main home end.

  • Midland Road Stand (Bradford Lifts Stand)

A single-tier stand opposite the main stand that overhangs Midland Road; away fans are usually in blocks F and G.

  • North West Corner

A corner stand of about 2,300 seats joining the main stand and the Kop, opened in December 2000.

  • TL Dallas Stand

The double-decker Bradford End nearest the city centre, often closed and opened to away fans when demand is higher.
