Dubai — the most populous emirate in the United Arab Emirates with around 3.7 million residents on the Persian Gulf coast — has built itself into one of the Middle East's biggest live-event capitals over the last two decades. The 17,000-capacity Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk, opened in 2019, was the region's first purpose-built indoor entertainment venue and hosts global concert tours, comedy specials, NBA Africa games and indoor sports year-round. The annual Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, jointly sanctioned by the ATP and WTA, take place at the Aviation Club each February and have hosted every world number one across both tours since the early 1990s. On the football side, Dubai is one of the busiest winter training-camp destinations for Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A sides during the European mid-season break, with the 25,000-capacity Al Maktoum Stadium and the Sevens Stadium hosting the annual Dubai Super Cup featuring European champion clubs and other invitationals. The Dubai Sevens, the season-opening leg of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series, takes place every December. Dubai International Airport sits twenty minutes from downtown and the Red Line metro reaches all major venues directly.

Dubai — the largest city in the United Arab Emirates with a population of around 3.7 million and one of the leading global event destinations of the past two decades — has built its sports and entertainment infrastructure deliberately around year-round international visitor traffic rather than around a single dominant football club. The annual Dubai winter sports calendar — tennis, golf, cricket, rugby sevens, horse racing — anchors much of the visitor economy from October through April.

The Coca-Cola Arena in the Citywalk district — capacity 17,000, opened in 2019 — is the largest indoor air-conditioned arena in the Middle East and runs a year-round programme of arena tours from international touring artists, comedy specials, MMA and boxing. The ground is reached by metro red line to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall and a 15-minute walk through the Citywalk complex. The Dubai International Stadium (capacity 25,000) at Dubai Sports City hosts the International Cricket Council's headquarters and major Pakistan and ICC fixtures relocated from elsewhere.

The Dubai Tennis Championships every February-March at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre is an ATP 500 / WTA 1000 tournament that consistently attracts the top of the men's and women's draws. The Emirates Dubai 7s in early December — one of the World Rugby Sevens Series rounds — runs across three days at The Sevens Stadium with 100,000+ attendees. The Dubai World Cup at Meydan Racecourse in late March is the world's richest single horse race and one of the Gulf's largest single sporting nights.

Dubai is also a major preseason football destination — Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A clubs run winter and pre-season training camps at facilities including the Dubai Sports City complex and the NAS Sports Tournament infrastructure. Annual entertainment anchors include the Dubai Shopping Festival (mid-December to late January), the Dubai Food Festival in March, and the Dubai Comedy Festival in October. The Atlantis The Royal and Coca-Cola Arena both regularly host one-off pop and arena residencies.
